Ambassador Criteria

If you are interested in being an Ambassador there are only three requirements:

  1. Participation in or coordination of two or more Routes and/or Exploritas (Elderhostel) programs
  2. A desire to share the Routes and Exploritas (Elderhostel) experience with the people in your community
  3. Enthusiasm and dedication for the Routes to Learning Canada and Elderhostel mission

Ambassador Roles and Responsibility

Routes Ambassadors act as Routes to Learning Canada representatives, sharing our mission of lifelong learning with those in their communities through speaking engagements and community events. We ask that you review our Ambassador Role and Responsibilities before you apply, to learn more about what being an Ambassador involves

Role
As a Routes to Learning Canada representative, you will be responsible for educating and communicating a positive, current, and accurate image of Routes to Learning Canada and Exploritas (Elderhostel) to mature adults in your community

Basic Responsibilities

  • Share your Routes and Exploritas enthusiasm and lifelong learning spirit with others in your area.
  • Develop, schedule, and/or accept (from headoffice) 2 speaking engagements in your community to educate older adults about Routes to Learning Canada and Exploritas each year.
  • Keep up to date and knowledgeable on Routes and Exploritas programming, policies, history, catalog, website and new developments.
  • Serve as a liaison between the national office and your community by offering feedback from past and current participants as well as reporting to headoffice on your Ambassador activities.
  • Upon availability, participate in local conferences, tradeshows, or expositions as a Routes to Learning Canada or Exploritas representative

Requirements and Skills

  • Enthusiasm for Routes to Learning Canada and Exploritas
  • Outgoing, people person
  • Experience with two or more Routes and/or Exploritas programs
  • Presentation, communication and organizational skills
  • Willingness to forge relationships with local organizations, groups, associations, retirement communities, and media
  • Ability to travel (you will determine the distance of travel you would prefer)
  • Internet access a plus
