The UN Tourism Watershed Award
The United Nations International Year of Fresh Water— Science, Education and Conservation Awards
The two-year United Nations International Year of Fresh Water and Wonder of Water Initiative was created in 2003 to focus on the growing importance of water to the ecological and cultural heritage of Canada. In association with this celebration, the UN Year of Fresh Water Initiative in Canada recognized leadership in helping Canadians understand the importance of fresh water to our identity, prosperity, and quality of life.
In collaboration with the Canadian Tourism Commission, the 2004 Tourism Watershed Award was awarded to Routes to Learning Canada and the Trail of the Great Bear of Waterton, Alberta, in their combined creation of the completely unique Wonder of Water Learning Adventure Program.
